The Abuja Writers’ Forum is hosting our very own Jide Badmus, author of Scripture (SEVHAGE, July 2018) alongside Ex-Bayelsa State Governor, Timpre Sylva and Winnie Edmund Kanu to its premier programme, the Guest Writer Session on October 27th, 2018 at the Nanet Suites, Central Area, Abuja by 4pm.
Jide, our SEVHAGE poet who is also an electrical engineer will be reading from his book, Scripture. He is based in Lagos with his wife and two fine daughters but also claims Abuja as his territory. We met a couple of times here last year too. He is a strong Manchester United man – well, I cannot say if he is planning on decamping with the whole current situation of the EPL but… Hee hee hee. Let me leave personal talk.
Winnie’s take will be from her novella, Untainted, published earlier this year. The ex-Governor Timipre Sylva, who has been quiet in the media for some time now will be the focus of a new segment of the GWS called the ‘Take Five’ which features high profile personalities from various walks of life who would talk of five books that have impacted their lives.
I don’t know how to stress it much but the Abuja Writers’ Forum has remained consistent with their activities which include literary contests, readings, the Guest Writer Session, and so much more. They even had a literary festival earlier this year which was colourful and brought several fine people together.
The Abuja Writers’ Forum ‘Guest Writer Session’ takes place every last Saturday of the month at Nanet Suites from 4pm to 7pm. It is open to the general public and features sessions with readings from guest authors; music; questions and answers with the authors; and a raffle draw for fantastic prizes. The Forum also has critique sessions every Sunday except for the last Saturday of the week. Inquiries on their events can be put through to abujawriters@gmail.com.
If you are also looking forward to a literary family, AWF might be the place for you.
So, do pass the word and let’s see you there!
Cheers!
