Every day rises with a pain
Sometimes deep, at other times just plain
Absence in that missing part of the soul
We are never whole
And wake up each day, nursing the hole
That our missed rib strikes into our hearts
The sun might shine in the sky
But without love, we wonder why
The big ball rests above the world
Then time stops one day as beauty steps in
The skies suddenly become bluer
And the grasses greener
You are the heat, that essence of the sun
Shining in my life
You are the brightness of the moon
That takes out the darkness of my night
You are the light
That makes everything right
I swim a million baths in your eyes
And your lips simply paint pictures of ‘scapes I long for
As I draw life from their sweet pout
When your sighs escape, I am drawn
To places I cannot near imagine
Not every day is a song I dance to
For music sometimes gets tiring
But if I was to listen to only one song
I would want it to be of you
On days when time drags, or life sags
I might learn to stretch not to totally destroy your tune
But each moment, I will dance again in the torment
Of this wonder that is your love
Striving to perfect us
In times of better or worse…
I will love us and fight every loss
Holding you in one swoon to the heavens and the moon
So, love me and never leave
Love me and let me live
In your essence is my presence
Forever and again, waters within waters
Forever and again; then again…and again
‘Forever and Again’ (A Poem) by Su’eddie Vershima Agema
for Agatha
The vulnerability, dependency, strength, love, life and forever-ness spelled out in this piece makes it painfully real and beautiful.
You should add all Phillip Phillips’ songs (or maybe just Home) to y’all’s playlist. Not my favourite but it fits this beauty.

Ahhhh! Beautiful. ”And wake up each day, nursing the hole/That our missed rib strikes into our hearts” “You are the heat, that essence of the sun/Shining in my life/You are the brightness of the moon/That takes out the darkness of my night/You are the light” Great lines. Poetry at its best.
