  2. Wow! These lines are simply deep….breathtaking, and will go a long way in offering some amount of solace, to the downtrodden! You speak to the soul with these, the kind and thoughtful words of a great friend that sticks closer than a sibling, especially at such a time as this! I laud you on this Sir, you truly have a way with ’em words! Nice!!!! 👍👍

    1. Merci sis… You are quite kind… What does one say? I hope the words will help heal. Walahi, grief is a thief of our relief. It takes away our soul and when it comes, we discover, we might never again be whole….

Hmmm. You never saw this before Yemz?

  3. Am absolutely wowed by the lines ‘Grief’s a thief of our relief’! You dazzle Sir, and words are you for shizzie! D-Dang! 😂😂😂

I beheld a caption days back, put up by a dear friend of mine, a daddy’s girl to the core; on the occasion of the 7th year anniversary of her dad’s passing! It reads…
    ‘Grief never ends….but it changes.
    Its a passing….not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness, or a lack of faith.
    Its the price of love’.

Something bout those lines struck a chord in me that I actually penned em down, to meditate upon em and I just had to share on this occasion.😊😄

As regards having seen or not seen this post earlier, I was aware when it dropped into my box; but wasn’t feeling up to looking up posts! Was just satisfied getting my ‘Tom Sawyerr’ on! *tsking*😈😆

    1. Tommy Tommy, nothing do you jare! Hmmm, those your friend’s words really strike a chord. Deep… I think I will have to write it somewhere too for it says much to me too. Strange, this poem was also written for a daddy’s girl at the passage of that great man who was a mighty iroko…
Many people think that grief can be forgotten…but oh well, enough about it already. We bless God for the gift of forgetting the deepest sorrows, and moving on to better tomorrows.

In the end, we can only pray for grace to lead us from place to place, abi? E go better.

And ‘Merci’… You are quite kind with all dem plenty praise.

      1. Well! Well!! Well!!! What do you know?! Oh Wow! 😨😮

That this was written for a daddy’s girl, as those lines of grief that I reeled out is pretty uncanny a co-incidence; to say the least! Am totally spooked out for sure! 😲😩

Amen to your prayers and while we grieve for the ones who mean the world to us, we also have memories that will linger on in our heart of hearts, for as long as we shall live and cherish ’em we must, especially when grief stands at the doors of hearts, knocking and asking to be let in! That time should be the perfect time to remember and cherish the memories we made with our beloved; soaking up in the bliss and kicking grief to the curb! For even grief is incapable of stripping us of those memories! They’ll forever live in our hearts! 😄😊

        1. But question is how much is memory… how much is the weight of our thoughts in the absence that shouts at a silence never to be gotten rid of? 🙂
We shall live through the moment… Yes, maybe memory will help us smile while we walk the miles of whatever length of time our earth’s journey will bless us with…
          Yeah.

All the fathers, wherever they are, may the sands rest gently on them.

It really is something, grief, isn’t it? You have experienced it much Yemz?

        2. Hehehe. Haven’t we all?! 😔Experienced grief I mean! Its an aspect of life that none is immune against! We all get to welcome that forbidden guest into our hearts, home and life at some point in our existences, but we learn to live again and again, get past our hurt and pain, making the best of what time we ourselves have before we go join our ancestors in the great beyond! Its an inevitability! 😆

A big Amen to your prayers too and memories are the next best thing we have, to remembering and immortalizing our beloved! Its just what it is Sagely One, its what it is! 😁😊

        3. There are different degrees of grief, and I know a lot of people who haven’t felt it personally. It sure is a most unwelcome guest forced on us… Chai! God save us…

Sometimes memory helps in its loss… When you forget those biting things that ordinarily should have kept you going crazy… We forget pain, a bit and live better when we build new memories.

    1. Merci sis! Now, this is where the blushes are meant to get me pink in the cheek but oh well, this black pigment wouldn’t allow the joy, for even a second! You know, I’ve thought about this for some time: why does grief, sadness and our mellow moment bring the good verse? You know, see ‘Fences’ for instance… The contradiction of life, no?

      1. LOL “This black pigment” now that is hillarious… to answer your question I think the best poetry, the deepest art, is brought about by intense introspection. It’s why we are writers, we have the ability to tap into the realm of the soul.
